Our God is bigger than any election, president, political party, country, or government.
God is not made in our image we are made in His.
God is not surprised by anything that has happened and the results of this election are known to Him. To be clear, Him knowing doesn't mean He willed or endorsed the winner to govern our nation. Consider the book of Judges when God allowed horrible men to rule the Israelites because they kept turning away from Him and all the blessings He had given them. It wasn't until they turned back to God that He sent His chosen Judge to save and lead them.
No matter who wins tonight God is still God the creator of this universe, our friend, our comforter, and protector. Even in the darkest of circumstances we completely trust He is ALWAYS working ALL things out for our own good. So we look towards the future, we have hope, and we are eager to share how we have been changed by God’s perfect hospitality.
No matter the results of the election...hold on let us say that again for our own selves...no matter the results of this election, we will be in submission to the Lord our God.
Election Day Affirmations.
If you've never used affirmations, today and in the days to come, may be a great time to start. Affirmations are words and statements that you believe to be true. Positive affirmations help you overcome worry, anxiety, fear, and other negative emotions. Below are some that we have on repeat. Of course you can and should create your own.
1. God is in control.
2. God is the creator of this world.
3. God loves every single human being on this earth.
4. God is not partial. He does not see us as the world sees us.
5. God is wise.
6. There is nothing new under the sun.
7. God has commanded us to love our neighbor.
8. We are going to love our neighbor.
9. We are made in the image of God. God is not made in the image of us.
10. If God is for us, who can ever be against us (Romans 8:31)
Social media fast.
Regardless of the results, this election will bring out a lot of tension, hurt, and gloating. You have 100% permission to protect your peace. You are not obligated to tune in to social media or news stories.
Here are some things you can do tonight and in the days after the election instead of tuning into social media:
1. Pray for our country and people around the world
2. Clean while listening to music or your favorite podcast
3. Watch a light hearted tv show
4. Play a game with your family
5. Decorate the Christmas tree
6. Create and enjoy a delicious dinner
7. Try one of our recipes
8. Call a friend or family member you haven't spoken to in awhile
9. Find a DIY craft or project on Pinterest
10. Plan some fun holiday activities to do this season
Pray that God reveals Himself to you.
Whether you have a relationship with God or not we pray that He reveals Himself to you. God is a personal God who meets everyone’s individual needs according to His ways and His plans.
If you are a believer we encourage you to ask God to reveal what He wants you to gain from this election. God has been revealing to us how to love and serve people who hate us. It has been hard, pray for us!
If you are not a believer I pray and encourage you to ask God to reveal Himself to you. So you can see Him for Him not for how others see Him. It is so hard to see others falsely portray God and use His words in order to achieve their own agendas. The devil does this too by the way, so be cautious. We see people hate God because of what they hear "some christian" say about God. We pray that you do not let other people's views on God cause you to miss out on the BEST relationship of your life.
We pray that you do not let other people's views on God cause you to miss out on the BEST relationship of your life.
Grab a Christian Bible, and dive in praying for God to guide you along the way. Trust that He knows you and you only need to come to know Him. Do you need a bible? If you do, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll make sure you get one!
Know it's not over.
Know that no matter the outcome of the election there is still more work to be done. If your candidate didn't win you may feel defeated, however, you can still make your voice heard by serving your local community, donating to worthy causes, and working to ensure safety and justice is provided for all people living in this country.
If your candidate does win, take ownership and hold them accountable. You do not have to agree with everything your candidate or political party states. You can and should speak up when they've wronged others and went against your personal beliefs.
Our Election Day Prayer
Our God, please do a great thing within our hearts, minds, homes, communities, country, and world. Lord we love you so much and are in awe of who You are. You are so much bigger, better, and wiser than any president or human for that matter and it brings us so much comfort to know that you are the God of love. Lord would you please reveal yourself to believers and non-believers. Would you strengthen our faith and guide us along a path of righteousness.
“Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30
